The Los Cabos area is known for the main centers of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose Del Cabo, but there’s a bit of magic on the Pacific Ocean side of the Los Cabos area.
Todos Santos, which is known as “Pueblo Mágico,” or Magic Town, is a fun day trip for those looking for a little magic away from the beach. This little village is located about 45 miles from Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and even closer to Rancho San Lucas. While staying at the resort, it’s an easy excursion on the modern highway 19 and the concierge service can help you find your way.
Once at Todos Santos, it’s easy to love this Magic Town. It combines history with art and culture and gives you a look into the area’s past.
Todos Santos was initially founded as a Mission in 1724, and many historical buildings are open to the public. It’s easy to walk around town and see the sights, including unique old buildings like the Church, Theater, Cultural Center and Museum.
The area later became a major sugar-cane producer, and in almost 100 years of sugar production, many beautiful colonial style buildings and homes were built. While on your walk you can take in the architecture and history of those buildings and homes, many of which have since been updated and preserved.
Now in recent years, Todos Santos has attracted many artists, artisans and crafts people who have moved into the area, making the village known as a cultural and artistic center.
There are a number of galleries that can be visited as you walk around town. At different times of year, there are also Open Studio Tours, a Historic Home Tour, and Cinematic Festivals.
The town also has historic farming roots that are being revitalized. The area is an oasis of rich farmlands, with poblano chili farming, other vegetables, and avocado, papaya, and mango orchards. You’ll also enjoy the beautiful local flowers adorning its buildings, such as colorful bougainvilleas.
A unique adventure awaits you with a short trip from Rancho San Lucas to Todos Santos.
